A month back I went to my habitual modelling shop in Zaragoza (Kits). I was quickly attracted by a bunch of new sets. One of them was the new colour set for NATO tanks that I'd seen announced weeks ago. As I was building the Challenger II at that time, I decided to buy it. Here it's the review of the set along with the weathering set for NATO colours from the same brand.
Hará un mes que fui a mi tienda de modelismo habitual en Zaragoza (Kits). Rápidamente me vi atraído por unos sets nuevos. Uno de ellos era el set de colores para tanques OTAN que había visto anunciado unas semanas antes. Como en ese momento estaba montando el Challenger II me decidí a comprarlo. Aquí tenéis el review junto con su set "hermano", el weathering set para colores OTAN de la misma marca.

Colors set
The acrylics set it consist of three basic colours to paint NATO camos and vehicles. Green (AK796), Brown (AK797) and Black (AK735). The colours, as all the acrylics of AK, have been formulated taking into account the downscaling effect. The references here, have accurate tones very similar to the real ones.
El set de acrílicos consta de tres colores básicos para pintar camuflajes de la OTAN. Verde (AK796), marrón (AK797) y negro (AK735). Los colores, como todos los acrílicos de AK, están formulados teniendo en cuenta el factor a escala. Las referencias cuentan con unos tonos muy acertados y parecidos a los reales.
New formula! (Nueva formula!)
AK-Interactive has a new formula for its acrylic paints. Being this three references one of the first with this new formula. Certainly, there's been a big improvement of the performance of the paint especially applying it with an airbrush. It's the first time I've truly applied the paint directly from the jar to the airbrush without having any trouble during the painting of my model. In addition, they have great coverage and you can apply them with an airbrush as well as with a brush.

AK-Interactive tiene una nueva fórmula para sus pinturas acrílicas siendo estas tres referencias unas de las primeras en incorporarla. Ciertamente ha habido una gran mejora en cuanto al rendimiento de la pintura sobre todo aplicándola con el aerografo. Ha sido la primera vez en que de verdad he podido aplicar la pintura directamente del bote al aerografo sin tener ningún problema al pintar mi modelo. Por si fuera poco tienen una buena cobertura y se trabaja bien con ellas tanto con aerografo como con pincel.
Apart from the acrylics set, AK also has a weathering set consisting in a filter (AK- 076), a wash (AK-075) and Rain Marks effects (AK-074). All three designed to use in combination of the standard colours used by NATO.
The filter and the wash have the right colour and dilution to be used directly from the jar. Although you can thin down the product without any problem with turpentine or white spirit. The rain marks effect it's the most versatile product of the set as you can also use it to represent dust and several other effects. You have to take into account though, that the main purpose of the product it's to represent rain marks, so you may find the mixture a little bit thinned for other effects.
A parte del set de acrílicos, AK también tiene un set de envejecido que consiste en un filtro (AK-076), un lavado (AK-075) y efectos de marcas de lluvia (AK-074). Los tres diseñados para ser usados en combinación de los colores estándar de la OTAN.
El filtro y el lavado tienen el color y la disolución perfecta para ser utilizados directamente del bote. Aunque pueden ser diluidos con más trementina o white spirit si así se desea. El efecto marcas de lluvia es el producto más versátil del set ya que puede ser utilizado para simular polvo y multitud de otros efectos. De todos modos se tiene que tener en cuenta que su principal propósito es el de representar marcas de lluvia, así que podríamos encontrar la mezcla demasiada diluida para según qué efectos.
Both the acrylics and the weathering sets have a really good quality, and all the products included are quite versatile. Highly recommended!
Tanto el set de acrílicos como el de envejecido son de una muy buena calidad y todos los productos incluidos son bastante versátiles. Muy recomendados!
