The main idea for this vignette came from the excellent Syrian mortar from Macone Models. This is a lovely resin kit pretty easy to build and paint. Once I had the mortar I started building up all the volumes and composition of the vignette. As I am learning and building up confidence with figures and ground elements I decided to keep the idea and composition simple.

The burnt-out car is the legendary classic from Mig Productions by François Verdier. I've always wanted to paint it since I was a teenager.  So I just did. Of course, it was not an easy job since I had never tried anything else close to burnt-out car. After checking lots of reference pictures I and some tests I decided to use a combination of the well-known hairspray technique, mapping, speckling, and chipping techniques. I hope to keep learning and improving all these techniques to be able to get better results in the future.

The mortar is from Macone Models. It is a very interesting reference to paint because the finishes we can give to it are endless. I decided to apply the traditional sand base used in many Syrian vehicles and random patches of green. Chipping and oil techniques completed the model.

All components of this vignette are going to be explained using detailed step-by-steps in a future publication of the WornArt series by AK Interactive.
